Delivery Policy
DELIVERY POLICY
Last Updated: 08/2026
1. Introduction
This Delivery Policy explains how JDL Distribution Limited ("JDL", "we", "us" or "our") processes and delivers wholesale orders to customers within the United Kingdom.
By placing an order with JDL, you acknowledge and agree to the delivery terms set out in this policy and our Wholesale Terms & Conditions.
2. Delivery Areas
JDL currently provides delivery services to customers throughout the United Kingdom.
Delivery availability may vary depending on the destination, size and weight of the order, the nature of the goods and the delivery service being used.
Certain remote or restricted locations may be subject to additional delivery charges or alternative delivery arrangements.
Where delivery to a particular location is not available, JDL will notify the customer as soon as reasonably practicable.
3. Order Processing
Orders will normally be processed once payment has been received or, for approved credit customers, once the order has been accepted.
Orders are generally processed during our normal business hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 18:00
Saturday/Sunday: Closed
Orders placed outside our normal business hours, on weekends or on public holidays will generally be processed on the next working day.
Processing times may vary depending on stock availability, order size and any specific requirements agreed with the customer.
4. Delivery Times
JDL will provide an estimated delivery timeframe when an order is placed or accepted.
Unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing, delivery dates and times are estimates and are not guaranteed.
Typical delivery times may be:
Standard UK delivery: Usually next day depending on the area if not 1-3 working days
Large or palletised orders: 3–5 working days
Remote areas: Additional time may be required
Special or made-to-order items: As advised at the time of order
Delivery times may vary during periods of high demand, public holidays, adverse weather, carrier disruption or other circumstances outside JDL's reasonable control.
5. Delivery Charges
Delivery charges may depend on factors including:
order value;
delivery location;
weight and dimensions;
number of parcels;
pallet requirements;
delivery service selected; and
any special delivery requirements.
Any applicable delivery charges will be communicated to the customer before or at the time the order is confirmed.
JDL may offer free or reduced-cost delivery for orders meeting certain minimum order values or other qualifying criteria. Any such offer will be subject to the terms communicated by JDL.
6. Wholesale and Bulk Orders
Wholesale orders may be delivered as individual parcels, multiple consignments or pallets depending on the size and nature of the order.
For large, heavy or palletised orders, JDL may contact the customer to confirm:
delivery arrangements;
access requirements;
unloading facilities;
delivery restrictions; and
suitable delivery dates.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the delivery location is suitable for receiving the order.
7. Delivery Address
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address when placing an order.
The customer should ensure that the delivery address includes, where applicable:
company or business name;
building or unit number;
street address;
town/city;
postcode;
contact name;
telephone number; and
any relevant delivery instructions.
JDL will not be responsible for delays or additional charges resulting from incorrect or incomplete delivery information supplied by the customer.
8. Receiving Deliveries
Customers should ensure that someone is available to receive deliveries where required.
The customer should inspect the outer packaging and goods upon delivery.
Where possible, the customer should check:
the number of packages received;
whether the packaging appears damaged;
whether the goods appear to be the goods ordered; and
whether there are any obvious signs of damage.
Where a delivery is visibly damaged, the customer should notify the delivery driver where appropriate and record the damage on the delivery documentation if possible.
Photographs of damaged packaging and goods may be requested by JDL to assist with investigating a delivery claim.
9. Damaged Goods
If goods arrive damaged, the customer should notify JDL as soon as reasonably practicable.
Claims should include, where available:
order or invoice number;
details of the damaged goods;
photographs of the goods;
photographs of the external packaging;
photographs of any shipping labels; and
any relevant information provided by the delivery carrier.
JDL will investigate reported damage and, where appropriate, arrange a replacement, credit, refund or other suitable remedy in accordance with applicable law and our Wholesale Terms & Conditions.
10. Missing or Short Deliveries
If the quantity delivered does not match the quantity shown on the delivery documentation, the customer should notify JDL promptly.
Where an order is delivered in multiple consignments, the customer should allow the relevant delivery period for the remaining items before reporting an order as incomplete, unless JDL has confirmed that the order was intended to be delivered in a single consignment.
JDL may request photographs, delivery documentation or other information to assist with investigating shortages.
11. Failed Deliveries
A delivery may be considered unsuccessful where:
nobody is available to receive the goods;
the delivery address is inaccessible;
the delivery location is unsuitable for the goods;
incorrect or incomplete delivery information has been provided;
the customer refuses delivery; or
the carrier is unable to safely complete the delivery.
Where a delivery fails for reasons attributable to the customer, additional delivery or re-delivery charges may apply.
JDL will aim to contact the customer where appropriate to arrange a suitable alternative delivery.
12. Changes to Delivery Arrangements
Customers should contact JDL as soon as possible if they need to change a delivery address, delivery date or other delivery arrangements.
JDL cannot guarantee that changes can be made after an order has been dispatched.
If a delivery change results in additional costs, those costs may be charged to the customer where appropriate.
13. Delivery Delays
JDL will make reasonable efforts to ensure orders are delivered within the estimated delivery timeframe.
However, delays may occur due to circumstances outside JDL's reasonable control, including:
severe weather;
traffic or road closures;
carrier delays;
industrial action;
shortages;
supply chain disruption;
vehicle breakdowns;
technical failures;
government restrictions;
public emergencies; or
other unforeseen circumstances.
Where JDL becomes aware of a significant delay, we will endeavour to keep the customer informed and provide an updated estimated delivery timeframe where possible.
14. Risk in Goods
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, risk in the goods will pass to the customer upon delivery.
Customers should therefore ensure that goods can be safely received, unloaded and stored at the delivery location.
Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights or remedies available to the customer under applicable law.
15. Ownership of Goods
Where JDL has supplied goods on credit, ownership of the goods will remain with JDL until payment has been received in full, where and to the extent provided for under JDL's Wholesale Terms & Conditions and applicable law.
16. Delivery Restrictions
Certain products may be subject to specific delivery, storage, handling or transport requirements.
JDL reserves the right to impose reasonable delivery restrictions where required due to:
the nature of the goods;
health and safety requirements;
legal or regulatory requirements;
carrier restrictions; or
the characteristics of the delivery location.
Customers will be informed of any material restrictions that apply to their order where reasonably practicable.
17. Delivery to Commercial Premises
For deliveries to commercial premises, the customer is responsible for ensuring that the premises are open and accessible at the agreed delivery time.
Where applicable, the customer should ensure that appropriate staff and equipment are available to receive and safely handle the goods.
If specialist unloading equipment or assistance is required, this should be agreed with JDL before dispatch.
18. Delivery to Residential or Restricted Locations
Where a customer requests delivery to a residential address or a location with restricted vehicle access, JDL may require alternative delivery arrangements.
Additional charges may apply where special delivery services, smaller vehicles, timed deliveries or other arrangements are required.
19. Delivery Tracking
Where tracking is available, JDL or the appointed delivery carrier may provide tracking information to the customer.
Tracking information is provided for convenience and estimated delivery times may change due to circumstances outside JDL's control.
20. Delivery Charges and Refunds
Where a delivery charge has been paid and JDL is responsible for a failure to deliver the goods, JDL will assess the circumstances and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
Where a delivery fails due to circumstances attributable to the customer, JDL may retain or recover reasonable delivery costs where permitted.
